I noticed that the effects of drinking alcohol in game have dramatically changed!

Can anyone confirm this? For example when you used a spiked eggnog some time ago it looked like that:

now it looks much less spectacular to say at least! Especially all colour effects are gone

Why did they do this? Some kind of anti-drinking campaign, or what?

Yer noticed it took me 4 drinks to get me slightly drunk... think its to make getting the drunkard title even harder. But yeh drink more it'll get more blurred.

It takes 3 drinks to be "drunk," and what I do from there is drink one ale a minute to get my drunkard title.

Also, they made a note that reccently the upgrade to dirrect x 9 changed some of the gamma settings required to create the "drunk effect."

I think the ability to get drunk in guildwars is one of the coolest "random things" in the game.

One day someone's going to think it's a good idea to have your character need to use the bathroom periodically...

Too much hastle, drink 5 to begin with, then every 3 minutes drink another 3.

Yea, I wish they'd bring back the colors. Is there any settings possibly that can be changed to bring it back?

What I'd like to know is... what unscrupulous individual is selling alcohol to Charrs? Don't we have enough trouble with them as it is, what with the Searing and all, without selling them booze?
